Audubon’s 109th Christmas Bird Count
December 14, 2008 - January 5, 2009

Join tens of thousands of volunteer birders in the world’s longest running citizen science program and help scientists understand how birds are faring amid unprecedented environmental challenges. 2009 Chapter Day

Great Backyard Bird Count
February 13-16, 2009
(President’s Day Weekend)

During the GBBC, birders of all skill levels monitor bird activity over a four-day period, providing a snapshot of bird numbers across the continent. Participants submitted more than 85,700 tallies for the February 2008 count. With 4,519 checklists, North Carolina came in second in the nation, trailing only New York. Audubon North Carolina Annual Meeting
April 17-19, 2009

New Hope Audubon Society invites all ANC members to the 2009 annual meeting in the Triangle area. Mid-April is a prime birding time in Piedmont North Carolina and the chapter will be hosting birding trips to some of the area’s prime birding spots, including Eno River State Park, Jordan Lake, and Mason Farm. The weekend’s programs will be held at the Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Durham. Meeting planning is underway, so keep an eye on your mailbox for an invitation this winter. Battery Island Cruise
